psalm 37: the long haul

don’t let your anger and fury
at injustice consume your soul
like some useless burnt offering.

if you’re going to
walk down this road,
you best settle in for
the long haul.
just keep on
walking and let go
of any desire
to see justice done
in your lifetime.

it’s a road that can only
be traveled by the
steadfast, the ones who
keep going and never submit,
who know full well that while
all tyrants will one day fall,
the future belongs to
those who endure.
